Growing up as a self-described “local boy,” Galt Ormiston graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1995 and pursued his passion for nature at Oklahoma State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture and horticulture in 2000. He spent the next 12 years working in the trenches for various design-build firms across Texas and Oklahoma, mastering the mechanics of general contracting, plant planning, and heavy construction.
Despite over a decade of hands-on industry experience, Galt felt a pulling to understand the deeper biology behind what he was building. In 2010, he returned to college at OSU to dive heavily into advanced horticulture, focusing specifically on plant science, greenhouse management, and plant propagation.
During this academic return, he stumbled into fruit and vegetable cultivation. This sparked a community-driven chapter of his career known as “The Backyard Farmer”. Driven to help Oklahomans build sustainable, self-reliant food systems, he designed custom raised-bed planters and greenhouses for local families and even opened a physical plant and produce stand at The Shoppes at Northpark in 2013, donating leftover harvests to local food pantries.
Using that deep scientific and architectural foundation, Galt formally launched Galt Landscape LLC to provide high-end, concept-to-completion outdoor living environments. Rather than just offering standard lawns, the story of the company transitioned toward pioneering heavily sustainable building methods.

Today, the company operates out of Jones, OK, servicing the entire Oklahoma City metro area with an emphasis on creating complex, luxurious, and environmentally mindful backyard transformations.
